Ingram Micro Expands Cloud Program and Services for Partners

How serious are distributors getting about the cloud? If Ingram Micro is any indication, the answer is “very."

INGRAM MICRO CLOUD SUMMIT 2014 — How serious are distributors getting about the cloud? If Ingram Micro is any indication, the answer is “very.”

This week in Hollywood, Fla., the world’s largest wholesale distributor is hosting the Ingram Micro Cloud Summit for 900 partner executives and their employees. First on the agenda Tuesday: new cloud services and solutions for Ingram Micro’s reseller and consulting customers, and enhancements to its growing cloud channel program. In addition, the Santa Ana, Calif., company unveiled a new, global Cloud Marketplace.

Among the new services unveiled here, Ingram Micro showcased Ingram Micro Hosted Exchange, Ingram Micro Virtual Private Server and Ingram Micro Web Hosting. The company also rolled out  additional services designed to help its cadre of cloud partners better meet customers expanding cloud needs.

In addition, Ingram Micro Cloud also introduced several cloud services from 365 Main, Charter, Logix, Skykick, Softlayer and SurePayroll. The expanded offerings address what Ingram Micro customers need most, said Ingram Micro Cloud Computing VP Renee Bergeron.

“We’re investing for the long haul and helping partners expand their capabilities with the solutions that will create new opportunities with customers,” she said in an interview with Channel Partners.

The Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace leverages the acquisition of SoftCom that Ingram Micro made in September 2013. According to Ingram, the Marketplace will be an online destination where channel partners and IT professionals can “educate themselves, browse, buy, deploy and manage a comprehensive suite of cloud services with ease and efficiency directly from Ingram Micro.”

As part of the announcement Tuesday regarding the marketplace, Ingram Micro said it will adopt a global platform powered by Parallels that is “built to enhance the Cloud Marketplace’s capabilities and support a much broader and deeper portfolio of cloud management services and solutions.”
