What This All Means
To sum up, Google Cloud is making some significant, and quite a few not-so-significant, changes to its partner program for 2023. Ichhpurani said these efforts will result in “a new, world-class migration program, which will unify multiple migration-related motions into a single initiative.”
We take this to mean that Google Cloud plans to culminate its long-discussed efforts to bring together its partner and field-sales teams under one roof. Again, we reached out for more information, but Google Cloud again declined to answer our specific questions.
Google Cloud is not unique in its intent to streamline sales initiatives. Its biggest rival, Amazon Web Services, has the same outcome in mind, as do other companies. After all, it behooves vendors to get their indirect and direct sales teams to work together. There’s (supposedly) less friction and more joint effort to attract customers — i.e., the opportunity to generate more revenue.
At any rate, Ichhpurani rounded out his Jan. 12 blog with this: “The opportunity for our partners to drive innovation and digital transformation will only grow this year.”
We can’t help asking … isn’t that the case every year?
