New Products, Services: Vonage, CenturyLink, Windstream

  • Written by James Anderson
  • September 6, 2019
These are the hottest new offerings available through partners.

Windstream and CenturyLink introduced new products and services last month.

Our August services recap features a healthy mix of telecom and IT. On the telecom side, CenturyLink added two components to one of its business bundles and Adtran updated its network visibility suite. On the IT side, a host of companies launched new offerings in conjunction with VMware’s VMworld conference. Fortanix, NetApp and Rackspace all announced new products and services that are compatible with VMware products.

Every month we compile a list of interesting product opportunities in the IT/telecom world. Stroll through the 12 slides below to see some of the hottest new offerings to sell.

Missed July’s gallery? Find it here.

Growth
Vonage

The cloud communications provider said it will add new AI capabilities for contact center following an acquisition.

Vonage announced plans to buy Over.ai’s technical team and intellectual property. The company will incorporate Over.ai's "voice over AI" technology into its Vonage Business Cloud UC and NewVoiceMedia contact center solutions.

The musician will.i.am previously owned Over.ai.

Edward Gately has the scoop.
Growth
Windstream

Windstream Enterprise will help customers migrate to one of Avaya's UCaaS offerings.

Windstream rolled out new migration options for the Avaya IP Office systems and Nortel phone systems. IP Office, which is premises-based, joins Windstream's OfficeSuite UC offering. Avaya and Windstream have partnered with each other for 25 years.

Read about the customer migration options.
Growth
Dell/VMware

Dell and VMware combined capabilities to create a software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) solution.

Dell EMC SD-WAN is based on VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud but also uses Dell EMC’s data center fabric orchestration. One VMware executive called it "the industry’s only hyperscale architecture for SD-WAN."

Learn about the platform the companies announced at VMworld.
Growth
AT&T/Dell

It was a busy month for Dell, whose partnership with an AT&T-led open source project will lead to new edge computing solutions.

Dell joined the Airship initiative, which has a stated goal of combining best practices from telcos to help service providers build new services in the 5G age. One AT&T executive said Dell's new membership will help "accelerate the AT&T Network Cloud on the Dell Technologies infrastructure."

Read more about the Airship project.
Growth
Rackspace

The vendor enhanced its hybrid cloud chops to meet strong customer demand for private and public workloads.

Rackspace announced five new services that partners can sell. They include advanced Kubernetes and container services, integration and API management assessment and managed VMware Cloud on AWS.

Kelly Teal covered the Rackspace news.
Growth
CenturyLink

CenturyLink added internet and digital phone to one of its business service bundles.

The ‘Simple for Business’ portfolio now includes unlimited nationwide calling on a digital phone and internet speeds that reach 140 Mbps. CenturyLink's channel chief told us that the bundle will help partners establish consistent monthly services to sell to customers.

Read Edward Gately's story.
Growth
Teneo

The specialist integrator introduced new service models for Silver Peak's SD-WAN solution.

The models are for co-managed and managed services. Customers can enhance the Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect solution with around-the-clock monitoring, upkeep and an operations dashboard. Teneo’s global SD-WAN practice director told us that the new offering functions as an extension of the customer's IT team.

We wrote about Teneo in our SD-WAN roundup.
Growth
Adtran

The networking solutions provider enhanced its network visibility suite.

Adtran integrated the SmartRG Device Manager into the Mosaic Subscriber Experience Suite. The enhancement will help service providers that want to offer 4K video quality and "intuitive" Wi-Fi monitoring.

Adtran last year purchased SmartRG, which provides cloud services for broadband service providers as well as connected home software platforms.

We briefly summarized Adtran's many product updates.
Growth
Big Switch

Big Switch Networks added a hybrid cloud element to its networking portfolio.

Lynn Haber wrote that the vendor will use its controller technology to manage virtual private clouds (VPCs) in the public cloud — namely AWS. The technology assists with workflows as they go from AWS to on-prem environments. Other additions include virtual private cloud management and governance and automation Tooling for Hybrid Cloud Networking.

Read Haber's article about Big Switch on Channel Futures.
Growth
NetApp

The storage provider launched a new virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solution that works with VMware's desktop virtualization product Horizon 7.

NetApp HCI for VDI with VMware Horizon 7 has GPU-enabled nodes that support "high-performance, 3D virtual desktop infrastructure environments." NetApp announced two other services that accelerate VMware workloads and give customers ubiquitous application access.

We included NetApp's announcement in one of our VMworld recaps.
Growth
Fortanix

Yet another VMware partner announced an upgrade.

Cybersecurity vendor Fortanix enabled enterprise-wide encryption for VMware vSAN and vSphere through its Self-Defending Key Management Service (SDKMS). This update will protect data on VMware infrastructure.

Fortanix was also part of our VMworld recap.
Growth
CloudGenix

CloudGenix integrated its SD-WAN and CloudBlades offerings with Microsoft Azure Virtual WAN.

The partnership allows remote offices to access Azure cloud services. CloudBlades, which is CloudGenix's branch infrastructure solution, uses secure tunnels to connect offices to the closest adjacent Azure region.

"Microsoft Azure Virtual WAN with CloudGenix brings the benefits of the cloud to remote offices world-wide in an automated manner. For the success of cloud projects, it is crucial that remote office users have a great experience accessing cloud applications,” a Microsoft executive said.

We mentioned CloudGenix in our SD-WAN Roundup.
