September was a big month for product launches.

September was a big month for product and service launches.

Perhaps due to the whirlwind of conferences and partner summits that comes when summer ends, several big-name organizations announced new services for their partners to offer to end users.

Many of the companies rolled out packages for software-defined networking. Some companies, like Nitel, upgraded their networks, and others made security-related announcements. Scroll through the gallery below to see 13 noteworthy new offerings.

Level 3

Level 3 Communications
 announced new encrypted wavelengths that it said will change the data center and cloud connectivity experience. The new technology aims to secure networks. A more traditional response to cyber threats is standalone encryption solutions, which Level 3 says lower network performance. The new offering gives customers “a single network view” of their security and complete access of their encryption keys.

CenturyLink

CenturyLink
, Level 3's soon-to-be owner, launched a new Wi-Fi offering for small and medium-size businesses (SMBs). Businesses of up to 250 employees can access the bundle, which includes wireless technology from Cisco Meraki, analytics and real-time monitoring. Meraki provides the Wi-Fi offering with its cloud-based dashboard, access points and licensing. CenturyLink said the overall bundle will give users better visibility, simplified administration and quicker deployment.

Avaya

Avaya
 unveiled a new cloud-based video conferencing and collaboration service available exclusively through its channel partners. The subscription-based service provides customers with unlimited use of virtual meeting rooms that support up to 50 participants.

Comcast Business 

Comcast Business launched a cable-delivered, gigabit-ready SDN platform, and SD-WAN as the first business product powered by the platform. Comcast Business SD-WAN combines secure IP VPN, application-aware routing, and a network firewall. This is delivered over the public internet via a carrier-class IP-backbone, using Comcast’s broadband offerings.

Colotraq

Colotraq unveiled DCITRAQ, its new cloud-based software for the sourcing of data-center infrastructure services. The license-free software will allow agents and clients to research, compare and purchase colocation, managed hosting and cloud services through Colotraq’s network of more than 400 service providers in nearly every global market. This includes more than 200 enterprise cloud providers and access to more than 3,000 colocation/managed hosting facilities.

TPx
unveiled a new service that allows ubiquitous wireless 4G LTE to become primary connections for businesses nationally. Powered by SD-WAN, the offering is geared toward businesses in hard-to-reach areas, that don’t have easy access to fiber or copper, need to get connected quickly, and must have business continuity.

Cisco

Cisco
introduced Intersight, a management and automation platform for Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) and Hyperflex Systems, delivered as a service. Intersight, the new systems management service, was developed to solve multiple customer problems including increased complexity from distributed application architectures and physical and virtual infrastructure sprawl.

The rollout of Intersight in the fourth quarter marks 18 months of development work, called Project Starship, to build a management cloud.

Nitel

Nitel
 upgraded its network to accommodate the Internet of Things (IoT) and other up-and-coming technologies. The Chicago-based managed telecom service provider is adopting Cisco ASR 9900 routers into its points of presence. The company says this enhancement will better support IoT, cloud and mobility services.

Aruba

Aruba
, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) company, introduced Aruba 360 Secure Fabric, a security framework that provides 360 degrees of analytics-driven attack detection and response aimed at helping organizations reduce their threat risk. The company also is expanding its IntroSpect product family, allowing businesses to increase machine-learned behavior detection from small projects to full enterprise deployments.

Oracle

Oracle
enhanced its Internet of Things (IoT) Cloud. The company added artificial intelligence and machine learning to the service, powering the capabilities of its Digiital Twins and Digital Thread offerings. Oracle said customers and partners will get better visibility and predictive insights.

Sophos
 announced that Sophos Server Protection is now available for Microsoft Azure. The security provider added an initiative aimed at supporting customers’ increasing use of public cloud to its partner-program lineup. The Sophos Cloud Security Provider program will offer training, certification and financial incentives to help partners protect customer data in the cloud and make the purchase of Sophos products via Microsoft’s Azure or Amazon Web Services’ marketplaces more channel-friendly.

China Telecom Global
(CTG) launched its SD-WAN service portfolio in partnership with Versa Networks, the provider of software-based networking and security services. The SD-WAN service allows direct and secure access to public cloud services such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon via backbone networks.

Avast

Security software-maker Avast, which acquired AVG for $1.3 billion a year ago, introduced a consolidated product set and a new global partner program that offers new resources, training and rewards. The portfolio includes three tiers of endpoint protection offerings for either Windows or Mac operating systems with an optional management console available in the cloud or on-premises, and the company’s managed services platforms, Managed Workplace and CloudCare.
