US Signal Lights More Fiber
US Signal (Booth 504) announces it has lit the Wisconsin and Illinois portions of its long-haul fiber-optic network, as well as the Rockford, Ill., metro network.
The company has been expanding its PoPs since February, giving telecommunications carriers, resellers and channel partners access to its infrastructure.
US Signal says the Rockford metro ring was turned up ahead of schedule, thanks to wholesale and enterprise demand in the area. The company planned to activate the Madison, Wis., portion of its network ahead of schedule, as well, by Sept. 1. The Des Plaines, Ill., activation was expected to take place by Sept. 12, and US Signal also will activate its Milwaukee services by Dec. 31.
The US Signal network is the largest in the Midwest. When it is complete, it will provide nearly 80 on-off ramps, made up of major carrier hotel locations and incumbent telephone company central offices.
