Each month Talkin’ Cloud compiles a list of must-read telecommunications stories for readers who are looking to stay on top of what’s going on in the fast-moving telecom industry.

AT&T to Acquire Nextel Mexico for $1.875 Billion
AT&T reached an agreement with NII Holdings (NIHD), a multinational telecommunications company, to acquire its wireless business in Mexico for $1.875 billion. Together, AT&T and Nextel Mexico plan to create the first North American mobile service area covering over 400 million consumers and businesses in Mexico and the United States.
8×8 Integrates VO, VCC Into Single Cloud Communications Platform
8×8 unveiled an integrated Virtual Office (VO) and Virtual Contact Center (VCC) platform that is designed to bridge the gap between telephony, unified communications (UC) and contact center users. The cloud-based UC solutions provider said its new platform could help companies boost their customer satisfaction levels and reduce the amount of time IT spends on basic “care and feeding” telephony tasks.
Voxox Introduces Cloud Phone Pro Hosted VoIP Solution
Voxox has added Cloud Phone Pro, a hosted Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) solution, to its Cloud Phone product line. The unified cloud communication solutions provider unveiled Cloud Phone Pro at ITExpo in Miami and noted that this hosted VoIP solution is designed to deliver “savings beyond what other hosted VoIP providers can offer.”

Birch Communications Taps Former IBM Program Manager as Vice President
Birch Communications named former IBM (IBM) Program Manager Michelle Ansley as its vice president and chief administration officer. The Atlanta-based data and voice services provider said Ansley will lead its human resources and facility management operations and is expected to help Birch advance its business strategies.
Global Capacity Purchases MegaPath’s Network Services Business
Chicago-based connectivity-as-a-service (CaaS) company Global Capacity finalized the acquisition of the network services division of MegaPath, which provides voice, data, networking, cloud and security services. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Global Capacity said the addition of MegaPath’s network services business expands and enhances its One Marketplace platform, which streamlines and simplifies the process of designing, pricing, procuring and delivering data connectivity solutions.
