Samsung is releasing three new models into its popular Galaxy Tab 4 lineup May 1, giving customers the option of choosing between 7-inch, 8-inch and 10.1-inch models when the new tablets drop later this week both online and in stores.
The new models are part of the growing Galaxy Tab 4 line, and will be available in both black and white. The Tab 4 7.0 will retail for $199, with the 8-inch and 10.1-inch versions retailing for $269 and $349 each.
Sprint is slated (pun intended) to carry the 4G LTE version of the Tab 4 7.0 model sometime this summer, while T-Mobile will sell the 4G version of the Tab 4 8.0. Verizon is scheduled to carry both the 8-inch and 10.1-inch models, while it is still unclear which models will be available to AT&T customers.
The release of the new Galaxy 4 models will further increase the presence of Samsung tablets currently on the market, as the company looks to beat Apple (AAPL) at its own game by flooding the market with tablets of all shapes and sizes, according to Cnet. While Android has become the dominant operating system for mobile devices, Apple still continues to hold its ground even as it struggles to compete with the ever-expanding number of Android devices being released as of late.
Both Apple and Samsung have been locked in a heated legal battle for patent infringements dealing with Google’s (GOOG) Android operating system for the past several months. Earlier this month, an internal Samsung document revealed that the company had lied about its gen-1 Galaxy tablet sales in February 2012 by artificially inflating sales numbers.
