iPhone 6 Slimming Down for September Release Date
If the latest iPhone 6 speculation is to be believed, the new device is going to be thinner than ever.
Although the phone has yet to even be announced, rumors have been flying about its specs and major changes since before the release of the iPhone 5 in 2012. The main idea that’s lingered is that Apple is going to increase the device’s screen size again to compete with the rapidly growing screens of rival manufacturers.
According to photos leaked on the French technology blog Nowhere Else, the iPhone 6 will be rounder and significantly thinner than its predecessors, with a screen that extends to the left and right edges of the body instead of leaving a small margin. The images match up with other leaked photos and popular rumors, which also call for a 4.7-inch screen — up from the four inches on the current model.
Some reports speculate that there will be two new phones, one with the 4.7-inch screen and another with an even larger 5.5-inch display.
Most are still calling the device the iPhone 6, but the name iPhone Air has also been tossed around. And so far, there’s no concrete evidence pointing to Apple breaking its tradition of a fall release date — as much as fans would like to see the new phone make a summer debut.
