An IT Managers Guide to Smartphones
While a glut of new smartphones on the market this holiday season might be good news for shoppers, it can be a handful for IT managers who are getting a lot of questions from employees who might be looking to pick one of them up for business.
BlackBerry has been the traditional leader in the business space, but many phones, including the iPhone 3G S, the new Motorola Droid and the Palm Pre are looking to invade it. Channel Insider published an IT manager’s guide to a bevy of these phones this week. Some of the highlights include:
- BlackBerry Bold 9700: The latest BlackBerry that has a 3.2 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi support, trackpad navigation, advanced multimedia playback and more.
- Motorola Droid: features higher resolution screen than an iPhone, 5 megapixel camera, slide-out keyboard, uses Google’s Android OS.
- Palm Pre: features a sliding QWERTY keyboard, GPS, 8GB internal memory and 3.1-inch screen.
- T-Mobile myTouch: The first Android-based phone with a 3.2-inch screen and a 3.15 megapixel camera.
- iPhone 3G S: The phone that’s making the biggest gains on BlackBerry for business; features video recording, encryption and a 3 megapixel camera.
