Dell Promotes Healthcare Cloud Growth, Expands Solution
Dell took the time out recently to congratulate itself on its 2010 acquisition of InSite One and its image management software and storage services for healthcare providers, announcing strong market momentum for the now-rechristened Dell Cloud Clinical Archive and new reseller and technology partnerships to spread the word.
In its press release, Dell claims Dell Cloud Clinical Archive is now involved with no fewer than 65 million clinical studies, managing more than 4.5 billion image sets from 800 different sites — a 25 percent boost from the same time last year. Now, Dell already offers its Unified Clinical Archive (UCA) solution on premises, but there’s a major add to the value proposition when you consider the disaster recovery and collaboration benefits this cloud component adds to the ecosystem.
And speaking of ecosystem, Dell announced a trio of new health sector partnerships around the cloud archiving as I mentioned:
- Merge Healthcare will be hosting its Project Honeycomb medical image sharing service in Dell’s cloud, relying on Dell’s cloud experts and infrastructure for management.
- Calgary Scientific Inc. will be leveraging its mobile and web-based visualization expertise to bolster Dell Cloud Clinical Archive’s appeal to physicians on the go.
- Novarad will see Dell resell its NovaPACS “turnkey fast image retrieval and a full-feature viewer with intuitive interface” alongside UCA and Cloud Clinical Archive.
One final tidbit I want to share from the press release: Following Dell’s $1 billion investment in cloud services from earlier this year, the company now will offer Cloud Clinical Archive and associated managed services in the United Kingdom from its new Slough data center. Apparently, Dell wants to benefit from the rising cloud trend in the healthcare market.
Dell is really getting serious this year about enhancing its cloud services portfolio across almost all verticals. I wonder if we’ll see any more momentum announcements or feature adds before the ball drops on Dec. 31. Stay tuned to TalkinCloud for clues.
