Cisco Virtual Partner Summit: Seating for 9,000 (So Far)
The Cisco Partner Summit 2009 (June 2-4, Boston) attracted more than 1,500 solutions providers (and The VAR Guy, of course). But pull up a chair and listen to this. Cisco’s Virtual Partner Summit, running through June 30, has so far attracted nearly 9,000 channel partners, The VAR Guy hears.
No doubt Cisco is striving to deliver the best of both worlds: Targeted face-to-face conferences for VARs that remain committed to travel. Plus, expanded online events that reflect (A) improving collaborative technology and (B) reduced corporate travel budgets.
Apparently, Cisco is succeeding on both fronts. Although the face-to-face Partner Summit was smaller than previous events, few IT vendors can match Cisco’s ability to pull in a channel audience. And now, the Cisco Virtual Partner Summit (June 2 to June 30) has so far generated 8,695 webcast views, according to a Tweet from Luanne Tierney, VP of worldwide channels marketing at Cisco Systems.
Hmmm. Time to kick back and relax for Cisco? Hardly. Tierney is now preparing for a China partner summit. Plus, chatter about the next Cisco Velocity summit — which focuses on partner marketing — has started. Stay tuned.
