Autotask Readies On Tour Road Show
Autotask is marching forward with its On Tour road show strategy, which will start in mid-September and visit 15 cities initially. The On Tour show is a reboot of sorts for Autoask. The company hosts a successful annual conference — called Autotask Community Live. But Autotask’s attempt to build face-to-face community-oriented events didn’t gain much traction in 2010.
As part of the Autotask On Tour effort, some of the conference stops will include Boot Camps. “We’re taking the Boot Camp from Community Live on the road and combining four cities of On Tour to include one-day boot camps beforehand,” said Jay McBain, senior VP of strategy and community at Autotask. Take a close look and you’ll notice that’s a new title for McBain, who originally joined Autotask in December 2010 as senior VP of strategy and market development.
Bootcamps, McBain said, will be held at the following four On Tour cities: Indianapolis, Orange County, Dallas and NY/NJ.
Meanwhile, Autotask continues to promote a referral program, which pays individuals between $500 and $1,000 for each successful referral they make. Also, Autotask is set to revamp its MVP program and related website this summer; the site is in the final coding stage right now, McBain said.
Autotask is striving to balance a company evolution and growth at the same time. Several key executives — including CEO Mark Cattini — have joined the company since December 2010. Founder Bob Godgart remains chairman but is no longer has an office at the company, and is no longer involved in Autotask’s day-to-day business. More recently, Bob Vogel — a veteran of marketing and PR — left Autotask to launch his own consulting firm called B2 Marketing.
Meanwhile, community efforts continue across the managed services market. Jeannine Edwards, director of community at ConnectWise, hosted a managed services session this week at Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference 2011. And ConnectWise expects to attract roughly 2,000 channel members to the next IT Nation conference (Nov. 9-11, Orland0). ConnectWise also hosts quarterly user group gatherings across North America, while also pushing into Europe and Australia.
