Veeam Software has appointed Chris Moore as the company’s channel chief for North America. Moore will be working closely with the company’s channel partners to bring Veeam’s data protection solutions to virtual infrastructures.
“Chris has demonstrated he has the skills and leadership abilities required to further enable and empower our channel partners,” said Ratmir Timashev, CEO of Veeam Software, in a prepared statement. “He and his team will play a key role in our effort to provide powerful and affordable data protection solutions to SMBs and expand our presence in the enterprise as we continue our mission to achieve $1 billion in revenue within the next five years.”
According to the press release, Moore joined Veeam two and a half years ago after a stint at Hewlett-Packard, where he managed the company’s StorageWorks partner channel and working on go-to-market strategies to help partners drive HP storage. Moore also spent a number of years in the VAR space, driving data center sales to mid-Atlantic vertical accounts.
“We attribute a large portion of our success selling the Veeam brand to not only the high-performance and reliability of the product, but to Chris as well,” said Charles Bass, vice president of Alliances and Strategic Accounts at Veeam distributor Promark Technology. “Candidly, we find that many data protection companies don’t adequately align the sales motion of their product offerings with their channel strategy. At Veeam, that is exactly what Chris has achieved.”
SMBs increasingly are a large focus for many cloud-based security companies within the channel, and Veeam is no exception. Although traditionally SMBs haven't been as lucrative for cloud service providers as their enterprise customers, the space finally seems to be getting the attention it deserves. If Moore is able to drive business to these smaller partners in his new position, Veeam stands to do well against its competitors, many of which still haven't turned their eye from the enterprise.
