Cisco Channel Marketing VP Luanne Tierney Joins Juniper
Cisco Systems Worldwide Partner Marketing VP Luanne Tierney has jumped to rival Juniper Networks. The move caught The VAR Guy’s attention because Tierney was a Cisco VP who worked closely with channel partners, launching and developing highly regarded events like Cisco Partner Velocity — a marketing summit for VARs and MSPs. So, what will Tierney be doing at Juniper?
Tierney will serve as VP of Global Partner Marketing at Juniper, reporting to Lauren Flaherty, executive vice president and chief marketing officer. In a prepared statement, Flaherty said:
“I am delighted to have a dynamic powerhouse like Luanne joining our team. Her innovative approach to marketing and her ability to inspire will help Juniper accelerate our profile as an industry and thought leader.”
The VAR Guy suspects Juniper will be making more channel moves in the days ahead. The company has been seeking a global channel chief since May 2010, and former Juniper EMEA Channel Lead David Smalls recently left for McAfee.
Meanwhile, At Cisco…
In the meantime, no debate: Tierney pushed partner marketing in the right direction at Cisco — creating memorable events such as Cisco Partner Velocity.
Cisco has begun the search for Tierney’s replacement. A spokesman says the search will involve potential internal and external candidates. In a prepared statement, Cisco said:
Cisco can confirm that Luanne Tierney, vice president of marketing in our Worldwide Partner Organization has decided to leave Cisco to pursue an executive opportunity with another company. We wish Luanne well with her future endeavors. Luanne built a strong partner marketing team and drove innovation, creativity and great programs. Our commitment to partner marketing and our partner marketing strategy remains unchanged.
Indeed, invites for the Cisco Partner Summit are expected to go out shortly.
