Zendesk, SaaS-based Help Desk Provider, Releases iPad App
The problem with a lot of mobile apps is that they just don’t offer the features you need to let you complete a task start to finish without going back to your desktop machine. Potentially bucking that trend is SaaS help desk provider Zendesk, which aims to make the Apple iPad app launching today the most complete of its kind with total control over the workflow.
According to Zendesk VP of Product Marketing Maksim Ovsyannikov, the iPad is a fantastic device with a lot of potential for the enterprise. The only problem is that Apple doesn’t promote those enterprise capabilities, and as such developer support for enterprise apps is fairly limited.
But Zendesk for iPad is out to prove that, like the smartphones it already supports, Apple’s tablet is going to be the tool of choice for IT pros and channel partners alike. Ovsyannikov says that not only does Zendesk for iPad support literally everything that the SaaS version is capable of, it has exclusive features like ticket bookmarking and a real-time ticket list.
Basically, Ovsyannikov says that Zendesk hasn’t done its job if you have to put down the iPad and find a laptop if you need to do something. It’s a mobile-first approach that makes perfect sense to TalkinCloud. But let’s see if Zendesk for iPad finds fans in the real-life channel.
Last, but not least, Zendesk for iPad is free from the Apple iTunes App Store, and you can sign up for the trial straight from the app. Could it be the killer app, so to speak, that Zendesk needs to separate itself from upstarts like Zoho Support?
Well, that’s up to the IT channel. Keep watching TalkinCloud for updates.
