RightScale, LogicMonitor Partner for Automated Monitoring
RightScale and LogicMonitor have teamed up to provide a comprehensive and automated monitoring solution for managed cloud deployments. Useful in bare metal, application and public, private or hybrid cloud infrastructure, the joint technology ostensibly makes it easy for RightScale users to instantly add new servers into the LogicMonitor portal as they come online.
The combined solutions will enable users to monitor, manage alerts and view dashboards and reporting for new servers that come online. The real strength in this joint solution is being able to monitor cloud-based or on-premises (or a mix of the two) systems in a single pane of glass.
“With RightScale, customers take advantage of best practice ServerTemplates and RightScripts to spin up new servers quickly and efficiently — across private and public clouds,” said Bailey Caldwell, vice president of business development for RightScale, in a prepared statement. “Now, with the newly added LogicMonitor RightScripts, RightScale customers can increase their monitoring and alerting capabilities for new servers, and in one unified monitoring solution that enables instant visibility across their entire infrastructure.”
For companies interesting in giving the two companies a chance at capturing their business, there are free versions of both solutions, although the terms for each are slightly different. RightScale offers a 60-day trial version, whereas LogicMonitor is somewhat more cautious with its 14-day trial.
The solutions both tie into several cloud vendor technologies, including Rackspace (NYSE: RAX), Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) EC2, Eucalyptus, Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) Windows Azure and Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) Compute Engine. It looks like they’ve got their bases covered.
Through the strategic partnership, RightScale users will be able to quickly and automatically added to new servers. Through the software, end-users will be able to spin up cloud-ready servers. Once the servers are operational, customers will be able to monitor, manage alerts and view dashboards and reporting.
