Harris Corp., EMC, and VCE Partner Up For Cloud Solutions
International IT solutions giant Harris Corporation and security vendor RSA are partnering with VCE, the Virtual Computing Environment Company, to co-develop trusted cloud solutions and bring them to market. Together, the companies hope to accelerate adoption of Harris Trusted Enterprise Cloud IaaS solutions among commercial and governmental organizations by making them more efficient and more secure.
This partnership is a little more incestuous than it might seem at first blush. VCE was formed by VMware, Cisco Systems and EMC. Plus, EMC owns a stake in VMware and outright owns RSA. Together, the companies will leverage VCE’s trademark Vblock cloud infrastructure and RSA-powered security to integrate with the patented, proprietary trust enablement technology at the core of Harris’ infrastructure offering, according to the press release.
As part of this technological synergy, the companies will develop best practices on how to migrate customer applications to the Harris Trusted Enterprise Cloud platform, with Vblock infrastructure at its core.
“Trusted cloud” is a cloud trend to watch this year. It was a huge part of Intel’s Day in the Cloud presentation, and cloud providers of all stripes are looking for better and better ways to enable secure multi-tenancy without sacrificing efficiency, portability, or usability.
