Secure infrastructure vendor Skyport Systems is looking to help customers protect their enterprise assets with the launch of SkySecure, a new cloud-managed, on-premise secure server with specific protection features for VMware (VMW) vCenter users.
What sets SkySecure apart from similar solutions is the inclusion of several baked-in security templates designed to help speed customer trials and time to deployment. SkySecure, available now, also comes with a specific template designed for vCenter users that creates an application-specific firewall to protect and secure the computing foundation and communications channels, according to the company.
The SkySecure Server’s customized vCenter firewall includes specific protection for several areas, including administrative access to the vCenter Server, DNS access to and from the server, as well as Microsoft Active Directory for user and admin identity management. Additional features include specific protection for partner API usage, network attached storage entitlements for image management and an ESX Server to vCenter administrative control panel.
“We set a high bar for our team on achieving general availability and first revenue shipment,” said Douglas Gourlay, corporate vice president for Skyport Systems, in a statement. “We concurrently ran external penetration tests against the entire system, delivered ‘over the air’ software and firmware updates to client systems, turned up multiple new customers and significantly exceeded our availability targets.”
The availability of the SkySecure Server comes on the heels of the launch of the Skyport global channel partner program, which was designed to provide partners with recurring revenue via an as-a-service sales model.
