Happy Friday everyone! The weather is finally getting warm and spring is in the air, so we’ve compiled the latest news from some of our favorite distributors to help end your week on a good note. This time we’ve got all the buzz from Tech Data (TECD), Ingram Micro (IM) and Arrow Electronics (ARW).
Tech Data: Tech Data has appointed Marc McClure as vice president of Field Sales, Eastern U.S., and Vince Stemen as vice president of Field Sales for Western and Central U.S., according to an announcement. Both men will be responsible for managing the strategic direction and operation of Tech Data’s field-based sales teams and will report to Marty Bauerlein, senior vice president of U.S. Sales.
McClure joined Tech Data in 2011 as director of Field Sales for the Eastern U.S., with Stemen serving as director of Field Sales for the Western and Central U.S. prior to his promotion. Together, both men have more than 35 years of executive level experience in the IT channel.
"With their extensive channel experience and track record of success, I am confident that Marc and Vince will accelerate growth and raise the bar in Tech Data's U.S. Sales organization," said Bauerlein, in a statement. "Both are proven leaders who have built high-performing sales teams that are committed to delivering value to our customers and providing the best customer experience in the IT channel. I look forward to their continued success in their new roles."
Ingram Micro: Ingram Micro has obtained the exclusive rights to market, sell and support Arcserve’s complete portfolio of data protection and recovery solutions, according to a recent announcement. Ingram will be able to distribute all of Arcserve’s products to channel partners in the United States and Canada and is expected to help Arcserve to attract new business in North America.
“This focused investment and aggressive growth strategy in the region marks a turning point for Arcserve's business—together with Ingram, we will bring greater business value and world class backing to our channel partners and customers across sales support and pre-sales engineering, marketing and technical enablement," said Mike Crest, CEO of Arcserve.
Through the partnership, Ingram will utilize its Business Intelligence Center to identify growth opportunities for Arcserve and its channel partners, in addition to aligning with the company’s partner program, according to the distributor. Arcserve partners will also have access to Ingram’s partner communities and benefits such as financing options and streamlined licensing.
Arrow: Arrow customers will be able to purchase Wi-Fi modules from Silex Technology via a new global distribution agreement. Silex’s modules add Wi-Fi Connectivity to Freescale i.MX6 and Kentis-based applications, and the company is one of only ten Qualcomm Atheros Authorized Design Centers worldwide, according to the announcement. The addition of Silex’ solutions is also expected to help Arrow’s customers to boost their development of Internet of Things technologies.
“With Silex Technology Wi-Fi modules, Arrow customers can add Wi-Fi connectivity to their products and create more marketable devices,” said Keith Sugawara, vice president of business development for Silex. “Silex provides a turnkey, one-vendor solution including pre- and post-integration support to help our customers get to market quickly and troubleshoot post-sale field problems efficiently.”
That’s all for the news we have time for now, folks. For those of you celebrating Easter this weekend, we hope you get lots of chocolate and jellybeans, and we’ll see you back here next week. Until then, keep on distributing.
