AVG Technologies Managed Workplace 9.0: Here’s What MSPs Need to Know
The newest version of AVG Technologies‘ (AVG’s) Managed Workplace 9.0, due for release next month, will feature several updates including automation upgrades, patching schedule updates, new remote control, a new report builder and more.
AVG provided a preview of the new features during its Cloud Partner Summit in Phoenix this week, and partners get the chance to try the updated remote monitoring and management (RMM) platform. Here are the details.
Mike Forman, AVG’s general manager of small and medium-sized business (SMB), said the updates to Managed Workplace showcase the antivirus software provider’s commitment to improving its infrastructure.
Foreman said AVG’s goal is to remove the complexity that managed service providers (MSPs) often face when they are managing their customers’ data, and his company wants to ensure it “gets things right” with Managed Workplace 9.0.
“It’s vitally important we get this right. Managing business customers has never been so complex,” Foreman added.
AVG said Managed Workplace 9.0 can help MSPs streamline their operations because it offers:
- Automation upgrades — The new release features playlist-like scheduling of automation packages.
- Lost monitoring protocol alerts — This feature is designed to give MSPs the peace of mind that their monitoring system is working, and they will be alerted if it is not.
- Patching schedule updates — This feature enables MSPs to patch on-demand or set up granular patching schedules.
- New remote control — This remote control includes Network Layer Authentication (NLA) security capabilities.
- New report builder — MSPs can create custom reports and access more data on more devices than ever before.
- Selective device management capabilities — This feature gives MSPs the ability to control whether a device is managed or excluded.
- Integrated AVG antivirus service — MSPs can leverage full deployment, configuration, monitoring, management, reporting and tracking for AVG’s antivirus service.
“We’re not geniuses, we just listen. We’re not trying to invent things in a dark room, we’re trying to listen to you [with Managed Workplace],” David Haadsma, AVG’s vice president of product management for SMB, told summit attendees.
AVG incorporates partner feedback into Managed Workplace 9.0
AVG partners provided feedback that was incorporated into the new version of Managed Workplace, Foreman said.
“Incorporating the constructive feedback from our partners, combined with a set of technical enhancements to our RMM platform provides our partners with enhanced levels of protection and control that will let their customers sleep at night,” he said in a prepared statement.
The antivirus software company will continue to collect feedback from its partners as it searches for ways to further improve its RMM software.
“We know we didn’t get everything, but it’s in process,” Haadsma added. “We think we know what you’re asking for and what the priorities are.”
