Comstor to Distribute Cisco UCS
Comstor Worldwide announced it is adding Cisco Systems Inc.’s Unified Computing System (UCS) as well as solutions programs and advanced training opportunities for Cisco partners targeting the midmarket.
This is the first server solution offered by Comstor and its parent company, Westcon Group Inc.
Cisco’s UCS architecture, announced in March, unites compute, network, storage access and virtualization resources in a single energy-efficient system. The UCS B-Series blades, were generally available to customers starting in the second quarter of 2009. The Cisco C-Series rack-mount servers are scheduled to be available in the fourth quarter.
As a pure-play Cisco distributor, Comstor Worldwide is able to focus on the UCS solutions and provide additional services and support around it, said Bill Corbin, executive vice president, Comstor Worldwide.
The bundled offers are not yet defined.
However, Comstor expects to deliver its training and certification programs for UCS in the December/January timeframe, Corbin said.
