Cloud platform data protection provider Infrascale announced the launch of Infrascale VMware Backup, a new hypervisor-level backup solution designed to protect virtual environments across any operating system or device. The solution is expected to make managing multiple vendor technologies easier and more affordable by allowing admins to use a single platform for all of their data protection services.
The cloud-agnostic platform will support up to 600 virtual machines with no size limitation and can perform in environments including Windows, VMware (VMW), Unix and Linux. Infrascale’s bundles cloud backup, disaster recovery (DR), file sharing and cloud archiving capabilities into a single solution and is expected to allow managed service providers to reduce their overall cost and man hours when maintaining customer data, according to the company.
“Cloud backup and DR is a really good business for partners, and for a lot of MSPs it's core to their business,” said Ken Shaw, CEO of Infrascale, in an interview with The VAR Guy. “The virtual backup subset has been a little tough to make money in … so we deliberately designed our pricing to create big margins for customers. This is an opportunity to have a really high profit recurring revenue model for our partners in an area where that has been really difficult previously.”
Infrascale is also promising a much simpler installation and purchasing process for its new solution than its competitors, with backup starting at $99 per month per VMware host after purchase of the Infrascale Data Protection Platform. The company has nixed per-socket, per-CPU, restore request and data transfer fees to make the solution as user-friendly as possible.
“Infrascale looks to provide organizations with a complete, one-stop solution that covers both virtualized and bare-metal systems and that still goes deep by enabling single-item recovery for enterprise systems,” said Scott Lowe, co-founder and analyst at ActualTechMedia, in a statement.
Infrascale VMware Backup is the company’s first product release since acquiring Eversync in June. The solution is available immediately.
