In the Know: Top 5 Must-Read Cloud Stories, Jan. 26
Talkin’ Cloud at the end of each day pulls out five must-read cloud computing stories from the news cycle for its readers to review in the morning. Today’s column features Rackspace (RAX), NGenx and Google (GOOG).
Some of these stories have been gathered from Talkin’ Cloud’s article database, while others have been collected from elsewhere. If we missed something, feel free to leave a comment below. We might just add it into the mix.
Here’s today’s list of must-read cloud computing stories.
Major nor’easter to affect northeastern U.S. I’m writing this article Sunday night, just hours before a blizzard is expected to slam into the Northeast, where many of us from Penton Technology live.
According to the National Weather Service:
“Moderate snow will develop over parts of Northern Mid-Atlantic by Monday morning moving to the immediate New England Coast with light snow over parts of the Mid-Atlantic/Central Appalachians by Monday evening.” Moderate to heavy snow will develop over New England and the Northern Mid-Atlantic Coast by Tuesday morning.”
If it’s Tuesday night and you haven’t heard from us, it’s because we have no power — and I’m more than likely outside shoveling, attempting to make a dent in what was left for me by Mother Nature. I should’ve just moved to the West Coast. (Am I right, Michael Kellner and Natalie Wolfrom?)
Bonus: Are you an Egnyte customer? Blizzard Juno shouldn’t affect you. Vineet Jain, the enterprise file sharing company’s CEO, says Egnyte’s data centers are located in North Carolina, San Jose and Amsterdam — which means they’re not in the blizzard’s path. “Looking like a pretty bad storm!” Jain says.
Rackspace Unveils VMware vCloud-Based Cloud Service. Rackspace is clearly becoming more than an OpenStack company. The public and private cloud services provider has been expanding to include services based around Microsoft (MSFT) and Google (GOOG) clouds. It has now launched a private cloud service based on VMware (VMW)’s vCenter.

Friday’s Last Word: nGenx CEO John Helms. NGenx CEO John Helms has been leading the cloud-based application delivery solutions provider since November 2014. In his role, he develops the company’s strategy for its distribution channel. Helms down with Talkin’ Cloud to help us understand who he is away from the office.
Which television show did Helms name as his favorite? (You might not be surprised by his choice.) What are his plans for nGenx in 2015? We’ve got the scoop.
