CompTIA Announces Cloud Trustmark+: Here’s What You Need To Know
CompTIA has launched the CompTIA Cloud Trustmark+, a business credential that is designed to accredit and differentiate the IT channel’s best-practice cloud distributors and vendors.
To earn the Cloud Trustmark+, cloud distributors and vendors must demonstrate a commitment to providing IT channel partners with best-in-class technology, integrations, support and enablement resources, according to CompTIA.
Also, cloud distributors and vendors must complete a third-party review, CompTIA said, that covers business and technology criteria.
“Too many cloud players and cloud technologies are here today, gone tomorrow,” Chris Johnson, chairman of CompTIA’s IT Security Community, said in a prepared statement. “The CompTIA Cloud Trustmark+ acts as a seal of approval that channel partners can trust and cloud vendors and distributors should definitely pursue.”
Additionally, cloud distributors and vendors must provide Cloud Trustmark+ documents based on five categories:
- Channel/partner strategy.
- Corporate and product overview.
- Go-to-market strategy.
- Internal operations and support.
- Security and infrastructure.
CompTIA said it worked with members of its Cloud and Security Communities, channel distributors and vendors and solution providers to develop the Cloud Trustmark+. The Downers Grove, Illinois-based nonprofit technology association also noted that the Cloud Trustmark+ is a vendor-neutral credential.

So what does the Cloud Trustmark+ mean for the channel? Lester Keizer, CEO of managed service provider (MSP) Business Continuity Technologies, said he believes that this credential “removes the heavy lifting for channel partners when it comes to the time-consuming task of vetting emerging and established cloud vendors.”
Stacy Nethercoat, vice president of product marketing for Tech Data (TECD) cloud platform TDCloud, added that the Cloud Trustmark+ could help her company “better onboard strategic vendor partners that are making significant investments in growing cloud in the channel.”
