IT Jobs Market Shows Growth
Call it a small victory amid broader economic challenges: The IT industry still is a hotbed for new jobs, bucking the economy as a whole in job creation and retention, according to the latest monthly index by TechServ Alliance. Here are some quick stats worth noting.
The index shows an increase of 3,600 IT jobs in June, following an increase of 9,200 in May. Further, the number of IT jobs in June was 0.7 percent higher than the same period last year, demonstrating a year over year increase in job creation.
This is good news for the industry as a whole. At a time when job creation in general is slipping – June 2010 saw a decline of 0.4 percent in job creation compared with the same period in 2009 – IT jobs are still out there, and demand is growing.
On a related note, MSPmentor (The VAR Guy’s sister site) continues to track managed services career opportunities. In fact, several new job posts recently surfaced on MSPmentor’s job board.
