Why MSPs Should Monitor ManageEngine’s Moves
Consider the following scenario: The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) may embrace managed services for its Oracle (ORCL) infrastructure. Now, walk around this week’s Oracle OpenWorld 2013 conference and you’ll struggle to find any MSP-oriented software companies. But wait: Take another look and you’ll see ManageEngine among the 55,000 attendees. Here’s why MSPs better pay attention.
As I’ve pointed out in recent weeks:
- Standalone RMM (remote monitoring and management) tools are dead, especially as suites emerge and M&A deals combine a range of tools and technologies.
- The traditional PSA (professional services automation) software is dead, especially as Total Business Management approaches begin to emerge.
Worth Watching
So where does ManageEngine fit into this conversation? The company is best-known for enterprise IT management and network management software. But the company also has a strong following in the MSP market — built around the IT360 MSP brand. The solutions include:
- ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus MSP
- ManageEngine Desktop Central MSP
- Site 24×7
Poke around a little more and you’ll find ManageEngine has a portfolio of application performance management, application performance monitoring, Active Directory, security and mobility tools. That portfolio diversity is particularly important because traditional PC and server monitoring is now a commodity.
Big Opportunity?
And that brings me back to this week’s Oracle OpenWorld 2013 conference in San Francisco. The event is massive. Of the 55,000 to 60,000 attendees, roughly 5,000 are channel partners. Most of those partners are traditional VARs and integrators. But you’ll find MSP chatter here and there.
One huge case in point: The CEO of the New York Stock Exchange told attendees they NYSE is going all-in on Oracle, and there’s a good chance the stock exchange will eventually seek out Oracle managed services.
ManageEngine’s MSPs and corporate IT customers know how to manage and optimize Oracle solutions. Do you?
(Oh, and one more thing: There’s evidence that ManageEngine is preparing to help MSPs manage the Next Big IT Trend: The Internet of Things)
