ManageEngine Adds Security Audits to Desktop Management Tool

ManageEngine, the IT management software provider, continues to develop and upgrade its IT management solutions at a record pace during the first half of the 2012 calendar year. ManageEngine finished last week by upgrading its Password Manager Pro solution to allow the company's enterprise customers to launch browser-based Windows RDP, SSH and Telnet sessions from iOS mobile devices. Now the IT software provider has shifted its focus to its auditing capabilities, something that ManageEngine President Raj Sabhlok says has been a focus of discussion among ManageEngine's business customers.

Specifically, ManageEngine customers have been looking for broader auditing capabilities. And now ManageEngine has answered the call by extending its compliance and auditing controls to Desktop Central 8, the newest version of the company's signature desktop management software solution. So Desktop Central 8 users can now record video of remote desktop sessions so that they have an easily verifiable record of everything their support personnel do.

According to Sabhlok, customers needed this type of auditing and reporting extension because they are now dealing with more customer data than ever before. That makes it harder for them to make sure they are compliant with security and privacy regulations within their specific industries, such as HIPAA and PCI for the health care and legal verticals. Automatically recording entire support sessions is an easy and time-efficient way for these companies to ensure their compliance.

Microsoft SQL Server Support

ManageEngine did not stop with extended auditing capabilities for its customers. The company also added two additional features to this new release of Desktop Central. One of those added features? Support for Microsoft SQL Server for streamlined manageability, more built-in services -- like auditing and reporting -- delivered as standard features, and a wider variety of tools for customers to create more customized reports.

Mobile Device Management (MDM) for Desktop Central

The final addition to Desktop Central 8? ManageEngine recently upgraded its ServiceDesk Plus help desk and asset management software solution to include MDM for iOS mobile devices. Now the company has "tightly integrated" ServiceDesk Plus with the new version of Desktop Central. So Desktop Central now comes with mobile support for iOS devices and gives customers mobile asset management, configuration management and security management capabilities.

A free, 30-day trial version of Desktop Central 8 is available for download. Pricing starts at $295 annually for the Desktop Central 8 Standard Edition. Mobile Support is available only for the Professional and Enterprise editions of Desktop Central and these are priced as packages based on the number of devices supported, starting at $20 per device per year. ManageEngine also offers a free edition of Desktop Central 8 that can manage up to 25 computers.
