Cloud.com And Symplified Make A Trusted Cloud Move
Cloud security provider Symplified and open source cloud platform developer Cloud.com (how did they get that URL, anyway?) have partnered up to give service providers single sign-on (SSO) and identity management capabilities. As the technological foundation of the cloud matures, the security around it will have to as well if it’s going to make its way into larger enterprises — which is exactly the market the two cloud companies are hoping to tap with this development.
Under the terms of this partnership, Symplified’s technology will get integrated with the Cloud.com CloudStack private and public cloud platform, letting service providers integrate security into their own offerings.
In the official press release, the companies highlight the differentiation that identity and access management can bring to an MSP or system integrator’s portfolio, especially when dealing with those organizations who need to meet regulatory compliance needs. And Cloud.com is touting the heightened security management that their MSP partners will get out of the deal.
Both companies have been experiencing significant cloud momentum in 2011. Symplified kicked off the year with a $9.2 million round of funding, seemingly spurred by buzz around the idea of a “trusted cloud.” And Cloud.com’s CloudStack has been announced as the platform behind public cloud offerings from Logicworks and Tata Communications.
It looks like this is a play for more customers from both Cloud.com and Symplified, since it expands the appeal of both. But then again, aren’t all corporate partnerships?
