AVG Technologies Acquisition Coming?
Is AVG Technologies (AVG) for sale? The Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter, this week reported potential buyers have approached the Amsterdam-based security software and remote monitoring and management (RMM) platform provider about a possible deal.
The news source said there is no formal sales process, but if a deal were to happen, it would likely be completed in the coming months.
An AVG spokesperson today declined comment to MSPmentor about the matter, noting the company “does not respond to rumors or speculation.”
AVG recorded $92.3 million in total revenue in the third quarter of 2014, down from $100.1 million during the same period last year.
However, AVG CEO Gary Kovacs earlier this week said his company is “well-positioned to deliver on [its] financial and strategic initiatives in 2015 and beyond, including strong subscription and mobile growth.”
AVG has 188 million active users, and Kovacs recently pointed out his company is focused on finding ways to better support its small and medium-sized business (SMB) partners.
“We have to be flexible. We have to be supportive. We have to have a framework, but it has to be a flexible framework,” Kovacs said during his keynote address at last month’s AVG Cloud Partner Summit. “We need to work better with [SMBs], and I’m making a commitment that we will do a much better job of that.”
