HP Launches Cloud Financing, Data Center Consulting Services
Hewlett-Packard (HP) is further expanding its cloud services and solutions ecosystem for service providers with the launch of a number of new initiatives aimed at solving some of the more-pressing cloud-related problems.
Specifically, the company announced HP Technology Consulting Services for data center strategy, operations and continuity, new services, developer resources and financing plans for HP CloudSystem, and new HP VirtualSystem hardware and software solutions for virtualized application environments.
HP Data Center Services
The HP data center consulting services are aimed at helping legacy data centers get ready to become modern cloud facilities, according to the press release. which also notes HP’s team of consulting experts can help customers shorten planning cycles and optimize operations to the point where the so-called “time-to-transformation” goes down by 40 percent.
And perhaps most attractively, HP is also claiming it can help customers save 37 percent on data center operating costs. Plus, HP Technology Consulting Services also makes available HP disaster recovery, infrastructure monitoring, and other continuity-minded services to data center operators, a potential boon in making sure your new cloud facility doesn’t choke on an infrastructure failure.
HP CloudSystem Updates
HP CloudSystem Financing, HP’s $2 billion financing plan to help organizations make cloud migrations without a huge CapEx outlay, is now available. But much more interesting for TalkinCloud readers is an enhancement to the HP CloudAgile program for qualified service providers, enabling partners to choose graduated repayment plans that step up the installments for HP infrastructure as your SaaS/IaaS business ramps up.
Meanwhile, HP CloudSystem Enablement Services, the tech giant’s consulting and cloud integration arm, has been enhanced with the HP AllianceONE resource center, giving cloud ISVs, service providers and integrators access to sample code, video demos and “expert tips.”
HP also promoted its new Cloud Centers of Excellence, partner-hosted CloudSystem demonstration facilities that enable service providers to show off to customers exactly what they’d be getting with an HP cloud.
HP VirtualSystem Updates
The HP press release uses plenty of jargon to describe its new HP VirtualSystem hardware/software turnkey solutions for virtualizing applications, so here it is copied and pasted for your own perusal:
- HP VirtualSystem for Microsoft speeds the virtualization and delivery of diverse, business-critical workloads such as Microsoft SharePoint, Exchange and SQL Server. Through a single console, clients can track application services and pinpoint and resolve issues without downtime across hardware infrastructure, operating system, hypervisor and Microsoft applications.
- HP VirtualSystem for Superdome 2/HP-UX accelerates the path to virtualized mission-critical workloads including customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP) and core financial applications on HP Integrity systems. The combination of HP-UX 11i v3 and HP Integrity Superdome 2 is tuned for mission-critical applications, delivering the highest levels of resiliency, scalability and virtualization performance.
HP’s press release closed with a reminder of its Converged Infrastructure strategy, which involves the so-called “Instant-On Enterprise” concept. In other words, everything HP has done is with an eye toward helping customers build cloud infrastructure that, in the words of the late Steve Jobs, just works. And it definitely sounds like HP is planning on bringing partners for the ride.
