Level Platforms Inc. is preparing a mid-year software upgrade for managed services providers, according to CEO Peter Sandiford (pictured). The update, called Managed Workplace 2011 R2, is the newest version of company's Managed Workplace 2011 monitoring and reporting platform for IT service providers.
Here's a quick look at Managed Workplace 2011 R2:
- While not discussing exact details, Sandiford said Level Platforms has added a toolset aimed at saving MSPs more time when it comes to monitoring their networks. The toolset, according to Sandiford, is “principally designed for desktop management.”
- R2 will include what Sandiford called a “product feature area” integrated with Symantec Backup Exec. So all of the monitoring capabilities included in Level Platform’s RMM solution and all the capabilities of the Symantec Backup Executive will be integrated into a single user interface. “This is significant for Symantec users,” Sandiford said. “It also differentiates us from many of our competitors who offer OEM solutions.”
- R2 will also carry a warranty management feature that will gather warranty information and trigger alerts when warranties are changed or nearing expiration.
- Also important, R2 will come equipped with power management tools to help MSPs and their customers take advantage of off-peak power rates from electric utilities.
The initial Managed Workplace 2011 release received positive feedback from many long-time Level Platforms partners earlier this year. Managed Workplace is available on-premise or in the cloud. Synnex, for instance, hosts Level Platforms' software as part of a broader managed services initiative.
We'll be watching to see how Level Platforms positions Managed Workplace 2011 R2 within the very crowded market for RMM (remote monitoring and management) software.
