SaaS Strategies for 2009
If you’re seeking to polish your software as a service (SaaS) strategy, check out this intriguing blog post from the Instigator Blog. Author Ben Yoskovitz predicts SaaS companies will be in “a whackload of trouble.” That sounds a bit dramatic to me, but Yoskovitz does offer some great tips to help you formulate and improve your SaaS strategy.
Thanks Joe, have now expanded my vocabulary to include “whackload.”
Many of the issues discussed in Ben’s blog are precisely why we’ve seen a significant growth of interest by SaaS ISVs in working with distribution channels to help drive revenue growth, without having to make a significant investment in building a direct sales model. And particularly for the SMB market, SaaS channels are a perfect fit.
This poses an excellent opportunity for VARs/MSPs to extend their “trusted IT advisor” relationship with their customers by adding SaaS offerings to their portfolio.
