Riverbed Adds Support for AWS, Azure to SteelFusion
Riverbed Technology has added support for Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure to Riverbed SteelFusion, the company’s hyper-converged edge solution.
Riverbed Technology has added support for Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure to Riverbed SteelFusion, the company’s hyper-converged edge solution.
Azure support is possible through Microsoft StorSimple, while AWS integration comes via AWS Storage Gateway. The addition of AWS and Azure compatibility means SteelFusion customers have more choice in where they store their cloud-based data and can utilize the cloud as a secondary storage tier, the company said.
“Many of today’s enterprises are already using a hybrid IT model, with data both in the cloud and data center,” said Paul O’Farrell, senior vice president and general manager of SteelHead, SteelFusion and SD-WAN solutions at Riverbed, in a statement. “Now with access to cloud-based storage and backup capabilities with SteelFusion, our customers can easily leverage the cloud as a secondary storage tier without any impact to users at the edge.”
Riverbed previously added SteelFusion support for VMware vSphere 6 in November, according to the press release. The company had previously released a series of updated and redesigned hardware platforms to improve remote site performance and scalability in the release of SteelFusion 4.0.
Riverbed was last in the news in January, after the company announced it had acquired software-defined networking and SD-WAN solution provider Ocedo for an undisclosed sum.
