The Rise Of Apache Spark In The Cloud. Most recently, Databricks added a job scheduling capability to make it simpler to automate workflows involving the Databricks Cloud service. Databricks itself only has about two dozen customers at the moment, but as one of the few places where organizations can access Apache Spark in the cloud that number should rapidly increase in the months ahead.
Birch Communications Updates TotalCloud PBX Hosted Phone System. Birch Communications is giving customers “the freedom to choose the right handset to meet their individual needs.” The Atlanta-based communications provider is now allowing customers to use their own SIP-compliant handset devices with its TotalCloud PBX hosted phone system.
Lifesize Adds Microsoft Lync Features To Video Conferencing Service. Logitech division Lifesize has incorporated Microsoft (MSFT) Lync capabilities into its Lifesize Cloud software-as-a-service-based (SaaS-based) video conferencing solution. Lifesize said Lync users can now join meetings hosted on Lifesize Cloud with one click, empowering businesses to provide “easy-to-use video communications.”
