Fujitsu Launches AppRegion Windows Azure Cloud Management
Fujitsu System Solutions has launched AppRegion, a cloud operatons management solution designed for Microsoft Windows Azure deployments in the United States. It seems that the Japanese tech titan just can’t get enough Windows Azure in its portfolio.
I’ll be completely square with you guys: Fujitsu’s press release isn’t exactly a shining pillar of coherence, likely due to the language barrier. But what I do understand: Fujitsu AppRegion uses the Windows Azure Management API to deliver “Tenant Management, Application Auto Allocation, Multi-operator system management, Automated Backup, and Autoscale for SaaS operations or applications management,” on top of the platform-as-a-service cloud’s vanilla management capabilities. It also includes e-mail notifications to help keep the administrator in the loop.
“Fujitsu System Solutions’ use of SQL Azure to develop AppRegion demonstrates the benefits customers can derive from the extensibility of Windows Azure, while simultaneously giving customers new tools for managing Windows Azure environments,” said General Manager for Microsoft ISV partners Microsoft Kim Akers in a prepared statement.
Pricing for Fujitsu AppRegion starts at 100,000 yen per month (about $1,250 or so) and is available immediately. We’ll continue to track the critical Fujitsu-Microsoft cloud relationship, as well as Microsoft’s ongoing cloud ISV outreach efforts, so stay tuned for more.
