CoreSite, Eucalyptus Partner to Offer Test Lab in the Cloud
Eucalyptus Systems, purveyors of the namesake open source, Amazon EC2-compatible private cloud platform, has teamed up with data center operator and Talkin’ Cloud Stocks Index member CoreSite Realty Corp. for a hosted enterprise-class test lab.
As of Euclayptus Cloud Test Lab’s official launch on March 1, 2012, CoreSite is hosting a fully hosted IaaS cloud on the Eucalyptus platform, designed to give enterprises a way to test their application migration and deployment strategies and generally get a sense of how the private cloud behaves before pulling the lever on their own actual deployments. The hardware is based on Dell infrastructure provided by Dasher Technologies, and will be based in CoreSite’s San Francisco Bay-area campus, according to the press release.
“By validating the technical and business benefits of specific use cases prior to migration, enterprises can deploy hosted private and hybrid clouds with a new level of confidence. As part of Cloud Test Lab, customers can leverage the Eucalyptus partner ecosystem to evaluate a complete cloud solution, and benefit from a customer-focused, best-of-breed systems management approach,” Eucalyptus SVP of Marketing David Butler said in a prepared statement.
This is one of the earliest Cloud Connect announcements from the show floor, and at its booth, CoreSite plans to accept sign-ups for the Eucalyptus Cloud Test Lab ahead of its official launch. Keep watching TalkinCloud for more chatter, especially as private clouds and open source continue to be hot topics in the cloud sphere.
