AppDynamics Unveils Additional Service Support for AWS Applications
Application intelligence company AppDynamics has released new diagnostic features for its Application Intelligence Platform in its Summer ’15 Release that allows customers to support their applications with additional services from Amazon Web Services. The platform now includes out of the box native support for several new AWS services, including DynamoDB, Amazon Simple Queue Service and Amazon Simple Storage Service.
Support for more AWS services is expected to help customer meet increasing customer demands and to complement the platform’s previous support for other AWS services, including Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud and Amazon Relational Database Service. A monitoring extension that imports and auto-baselines metrics published by Amazon CloudWatch is also included with the new release.
The platform is particularly important due to the rise in popularity of apps among consumers, which is causing non-traditional companies to develop and support their own applications, said Matthew Polly, vice president of Worldwide Alliances and Business Development at AppDynamics. Polly said AppDynamics’ application performance monitoring solution is essential for companies who rely on fast application performance.
“We are seeing every enterprise becoming what we call a software-defined enterprise,” said Polly, in an interview with The VAR Guy. “Literally everything you do is done via some sort of application that is provided by what is traditionally not a software defined company or a software development company. This explosion of applications is creating a significant opportunity for AppDynamics.”
The latst version of AppDynamic’s platform is available now. The company is also offering a 60-day free trial that will allow companies in the process of migrating their applications to AWS to view application data. The trial comes with automatic application topology mapping, which creates a detailed blueprint of what their application should look like once it moves to the cloud.
