Axcient Partners with HP to Create Data Protection Platform
Axcient, a 100 percent channel-driven data protection company, is working with HP Converged Infrastructure to provide the backbone for Axcient’s SMB customer products. What does that mean for its partners? Read on about the new solutions portfolio …
Axcient, which delivers its solutions portfolio through a SaaS model and with VARs, was looking for a resilient infrastructure by which to power the uptime capabilities customers demanded from their data protection services. According to the company, Axcient chose HP because of its ease of use and low-maintenance. Now, all of Axcient’s data protection platforms will feature an on-premise appliance based on the HP ProLiant server platform. it also features rapid restore and backup capabilities and failover for business continuity.
But what do you get with Axcient that you don’t get with HP? You get Axcient’s cloud-based DR service, with a web management console for VARs and MSPs to remotely manage and install the Axcient deployment. That functionality rolls right into HP’s Converged Infrastructure ethos of the “instant-on enterprise,” making the fit with Axcient an easy one.
Meaghan Kelly, VP of channel strategy for the Americas at HP, and Axcient CEO Justin Moore spoke about the new strategy, including how partners can take advantage of the technologies to transition to the cloud. Axcient’s technology with HP’s backbone is a “vehicle to do that and accelerate growth,” Kelly said.
The partnership comes at a time when “data protection is top of mind for SMBs and VARs,” but few reliable solutions exist that take care of backups for both desktop, servers and mobile devices while maintaining compliance retention standards, Moore noted.
Axcient hopes to provide all that plus customer “stickiness” for its partners, since expanded service offerings are easily deployed. A customer doesn’t need to buy hardware with the Axcient system. “It’s like a cable company,” explained Moore. “The hardware is provided as part of the platform, as long as they’re using the Axcient appliance.” Simplifying the bottom line and the cap-ex costs for a company is what Axcient believes can really help bring down adoption barriers.
“It’s a big win for the channel,” Moore said.
