VMUG Names New CEO: The VMware User Group (VMUG) has named Brad Tompkins as CEO, responsible for overseeing all of the companies operations and programs as well as managing the company’s future growth. Prior to his appointment, Tompkins served as general manager at Immedion, a North Carolina-based infrastructure-as-a-service provider.
CloudCruiser Launches CloudSmart-Now Offering: CloudCruiser unveiled its new CloudSmart-Now offering this week, which allows users to track hybrid cloud usage so they can recognize the financial and operational effect of the cloud on their business, according to the announcement. The offering includes several pre-configured templates with built-in workflows that collect usage and cost data from a number of different hybrid cloud platforms, including AWS, VMware, OpenStack and Azure.
Recommind Announces Alliance Partner Program: Analytics software provider Recommind launched its new global Alliance Partner Program this week in an effort to bring its solutions to additional customers. The program divides partners into three groups consisting of Discovery Solution Partners, Managed Review Partners and Data Collection Partners.
Netskope Receives $75 Million in Series D funding: Cloud access security broker Netskope gained an additional $75 million in Series D funding this week from investors including Iconiq Capital, Accel Partners and Lightspeed Venture Partners, among others. The company plans to use the funds to expand sales, marketing and customer success in addition to funding new engineering and research operations. The company now has a total of $130 million from its four funding rounds.
Aconis and Check Point Expand Partnership: Data protection solution provider Acronis has teamed with Check Point Software Technologies (CHKP) in a new partnership to provide joint customers with improved mobile threat protection. The solution combines the Check Point Capsule mobile security solution with Acronis Access Advanced, secure file sync and share to protect mobile workers from data loss and malicious attacks, according to the announcement.
