Email and data security company Mimecast Tuesday rolled out its new partner program designed to bring uniformity to how the company works with global resellers.

Mimecast also has appointed Shawn Pearson as vice president of channel sales in North America, and Julian Martin as vice president of global channel and operations. Pearson previously was vice president of inside sales at HP, while Martin has held many positions at Mimecast during his 10-year tenure.

Pearson tells Channel Partners that Mimecast has had a channel program for the last 10 years and this announcement is the “latest evolution of that program,” and that the enhancements are based on partner feedback.

“We believe our enhanced program will provide our partners a world-class program that is globally consistent with its core principles,” he said. “We listened to our partners; they were looking for Mimecast to make its program more consistent and predictable across all geographies. Some of the areas they were looking for consistency in include deal registration, enablement and general ease of doing business.”

The global program is designed to offer even more rewards to help increase opportunities for resellers to attract new clients into long-term business relationships and build their reputations as trusted business advisers. It will allow resellers to offer customers a cyber resilience strategy for email, “helping empower them to secure, preserve and continue the flow of information via email,” the company said.

“The new enhancements allow our partners to have a consistent enablement experience when they participate in our partner certification program,” Pearson said. “Our partners want to present solutions and technology to their customers accurately so they can solve their pain points. Mimecast’s new program gives them access to valuable courses that can be consumed online or in person, enabling them to maximize their customer experience and profit.”

The new enhancements also allow partners in advanced tiers to use Mimecast’s business-development representatives directly to help generate demand for both organizations, he said.

“Our business-development representatives are deep-skilled and capable of managing joint demand-gen campaigns and turning leads into qualified opportunities for partners,” Pearson said. “Coupled with market development funds, our partners now have a leading solution for cyber resilience, funding to build customer-facing campaigns and resources to help execute those campaigns — a new, groundbreaking solution for the industry.”

According to recent market research, the email security market alone is expected to be worth $18 billion by 2023, with a 22 percent growth rate year over year. Also, the email archive, backup and recovery market is anticipated to be a $10 billion market opportunity.

Aqueduct Technologies is a Mimecast partner and is part of the new program.

“We think it’s going to help partners that are invested in Mimecast in email secuirity, email archiving and compliance, so we’re very happy about the new program,” said Jack Kaiser, Aqueduct’s senior vice president of sales and marketing.

He also said it will provide new opportunities in marketing and lead generation.
