Wendy Reynolds-Dobbs is Unisys’ global leader of DEI. “Unisys has worked hard to build a compassionate, inclusive culture that drives innovation and opportunities for all of our associates,” she said. “We are proud of our efforts to invite different perspectives and diversity of thought.”

“However, we must also recognize that this rating, while prestigious, does not mean that our work is done. DEI must be an evolving journey for every organization so that we can all continue to nurture inclusive environments that fuel new ways of accomplishing goals, and where everyone can succeed.”

Peter Altabef is chair and CEO of Unisys. “At its heart, Unisys is a people company,” he says in the company’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Report. “No matter where our people are located, no matter their role, each Unisys associate is different, and those differences are our greatest strength. Building and nurturing an inclusive culture is fundamental to us as a company and a group of people. We would have it no other way.”

“That said, achieving and maintaining real diversity and inclusion requires planning, commitment and energy.”

A Commitment to DE&I

Unisys has approximately 22,000 employees working at 81 office locations across 30 locations. Among their most recent initiatives to support employees with disabilities include the founding of a disability-focused employee resource group, optional disability inclusion training, new health insurance benefits that include hearing aid coverage and Zoom closed-captioning. In addition, the company measures engagement of employees with disabilities as part of the annual engagement survey process.

The Disability Equality Index is a joint initiative of Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD). The Index is a comprehensive benchmarking tool to measure disability workplace inclusion. It’s designed to help companies build a road map of measurable, tangible actions to help reinforce their commitment to DEI.

Each company receives a score on a scale of zero to 100 based on a review of key performance Indicators. These include culture and leadership, enterprisewide access, employment practices, community engagement and supplier diversity.

In 2021, the Index also included non-weighted questions about innovative technology to advance digital and remote accessibility; mental wellness benefits; services for deaf and hard-of-hearing employees; and flexible work options.
