RETAILNOW — ScanSource’s acquisition of POS Portal, a distributor of payment devices and services, is already reaping benefits.

ScanSource POS and Barcode, the provider of automatic identification, data capture and point-of-sale solutions, and a ScanSource business unit, on Wednesday announced the PASS Program, billed as a simplified payment process for resellers and their customers.

The PASS program makes it easy to add payment terminals to a resellers’ offerings, enabling partners to supply a total solutions package to customers. ScanSource POS and Barcode announced the new offering at the RetailNow conference in Las Vegas.

“Payments hardware is not always easy — getting a customer set up often requires secure environments and strict protocols, but our PASS Program helps resellers find the right products and expertise to ensure a seamless process,” said Paul Constantine, co-resident, worldwide barcode, networking and security for ScanSource Inc. “We’re happy to offer this new program to our resellers in order to supply the best possible payments assistance.”

How it works?

Once a complete solution is sold, ScanSource resellers can then refer customers to POS Portal to further establish customer needs. A payments device specialist will then contact customers directly to match their solutions with certified configurations, sell hardware that is already configured and ready to use upon shipment, and field service and support calls. Further, for every device sold to an end user, resellers will receive a one-time commission, the company explained.

The new program is designed to simplify the management and support of credit card terminals, which is often a cumbersome undertaking for partners. With the help of a knowledgeable specialist for terminal support and configuration, resellers can focus on identifying new customers.

The PASS Program was developed by ScanSource and POS Portal. ScanSource’s $110 million acquisition of POS Portall, which closed less than two weeks ago, created the industry’s largest payments channel.
