Dell, Symantec: Partnering Up with MSPs?

The Dell and Symantec channel teams are getting cozy, having launched a joint program for channel partners. The effort focuses on systems management software for VARs and MSPs. But for me, this new Dell-Symantec channel partner relationship raises as many questions as it answers. Here’s why.

According to Dell’s channel blog, the Dell-Symantec joint program is:

“built around Dell’s recently launched Dell Management Console, Powered by Symantec, which offers a unified IT management solution to help you build and grow your Systems Management practice. The program includes training, sales tools, marketing materials, lead generation/sharing and much more.”

I’m intrigued. Dell and Symantec have launched a joint website that offers more information. But as I surfed the site, I started to wonder: How does the Dell Management Console, Powered by Symantec, fit in with other Dell managed services offerings such as:

I suspect there are some simple answers to my questions. But I wasn’t able to find them quickly on the web sites. I’ve got calls into Dell and Symantec seeking clarification.
