About one-third of small, midsize and large companies in the United States can imagine a time when all of their IT assets and operations are managed by an MSP. That's one of the key stats from a Nimsoft survey of 100 company executives representing companies with 1,000 to 20,000 employees. Here are some more findings from the survey.
Nimsoft teamed with Enterprise Management Associates (EMA) to conduct the research, titled "Enterprise Requirements for MSPs 2011." IT participants were asked to detail their experience with MSPs and give an opinion as to how valuable an MSP is to their company. EMA Managing Research Director Jim Frey revealed a general use and interest in MSPs across a broad range of markets.
Here are some other highlights of the study:
- The most common use of an MSP is for Storage/Recovery (56%) and Service Desk/Help Desk (44%).
- Three areas are largely under MSP management: Virtual Servers (68 percent), Data Center Infrastructure (61 percent) and Physical Servers (56 percent).
- The MSP qualities most in demand are Proven Expertise/Depth of Expertise (66%), Reputation/Reference (55%), Service Level Agreements (55%), and Solid Capital Base/Vendor Stability (50%).
