Software-defined Datacenters: VMware’s Rauch on the Record
Software-defined datacenters are real, and partners are making “great strides” virtualizing servers, storage and networking. That’s the key message from Frank Rauch, VP for the Americas Partner Organization at VMware (NYSE: VMW). Rauch offered more perspectives in a FastChat Video with The VAR Guy.
Software-defined datacenters are gaining popularity because they deliver CapEx reduction, agility and flexibility and alignment with the business, Rauch asserts. “Is it real today? Yes, it’s very real today,” said Rauch in the FastChat.
In addition to virtualizing on-premises data centers, partners are increasingly federating those environments to external data centers and external clouds. “We believe VMware is leading here,” asserted Rauch. “It’s not like we just appeared at the scene.” He points to VMware’s growing momentum with vCloud suite, which the company is prompting to channel partners as a “great foundation” for building out software-defined datacenters.
Rauch’s perspectives echo those of Toni Adams, VP of global partner and alliance marketing at VMware. In a similar conversation with The VAR Guy, Adams outlined why he thinks channel partners will benefit from the software-defined datacenter trend.
