Voice and data provider TouchTone Communications says its SIP local and long-distance services have been certified as interoperable with NEC Corp.’s IP phone systems.

The deal came about thanks to a TouchTone agent, Gary Jacobson of Midwest Communications Group.

"We’ve enjoyed working with TouchTone for over four years, so naturally we wanted to offer TouchTone SIP services with our NEC phone systems," Jacobson said. "NEC has provided a step-by-step guide to configure NEC communication servers for TouchTone SIP, making deployment easy.”

The certification means that TouchTone’s SIP services and NEC’s UNIVERGE IP phones for the UNIVERGE SV8100 and SL1100 communications servers work together.

NEC sells UC and mobility technologies to public and private SMBs and large enterprises.
