Cloud-services provider Evolve IP is buying a neighbor that it says will help it dive deeper into the health-care vertical.

Wayne, Pennsylvania-based Evolve IP has acquired Xtium, which specializes in cloud services for health-care businesses. Both companies are based just outside of Philadelphia.

Nine-year-old Xtium offers disaster recovery, desktop as a service (DaaS), managed cloud hosting and managed online backup.

“Health-care organizations are looking to leverage the cloud and need partners that offer HIPAA-compliant, highly-reliable, proven services,” said Guy Fardone, president and founding partner of Evolve IP. “Xtium’s HIPAA-compliant services and leadership on HITRUST certification initiatives mirror the capabilities and framework of the Evolve IP Compliance Cloud — and we are ecstatic to join forces in helping health-care organizations nationwide securely move to the cloud.”

Evolve IP's Scott KinkaEvolve IP says the acquisition opens doors for its partners as well.

“Our partners are increasingly uncovering opportunities within the health-care Industry that fall under HIPAA requirements,” Scott Kinka, Evolve IP CTO and founding partner, told Channel Partners. “Xtium’s products and expertise are a perfect complement to Evolve IP’s Compliant Cloud and expand our ability to support our partners and their customers in the health-care space.”

This week’s acquisition announcement follows the company’s purchase a year ago of APT and its Vetanium cloud product line for veterinary practices. Kinka says buying Xtium “furthers our strategy of application specialization on top of our cloud services.”{ad}

Evolve IP provides cloud services to a plethora of industries that include not only health care, but legal, insurance, banking, retail and more. Its OneCloud solution allows organizations to migrate multiple cloud computing and cloud communications services onto a single, unified platform.

“Our team couldn’t be more pleased to join Evolve IP and we’re excited to have new opportunities due to the company’s tremendous growth,” said Tim Vogel, Xtium CEO. “In addition to opportunities for our associates, our customers now have access to more world-class cloud computing services along with an entirely new suite of cloud communications services like hosted contact centers, IP phone systems and unified communications. As an organization, we’re looking forward to leveraging Evolve IP’s national presence and infrastructure to further penetrate the health-care technology space.”
