ZyXEL Bolsters Security Lineup with Cloud-Based IP Cameras

Physical security has been gaining some traction in the channel, and ZyXEL, in its continuing effort to expand and enhance its partner programs, has rolled out a new set of cloud-based IP surveillance cameras. Read on for the deets …

ZyXEL’s IPC3605N and IPC4606N don’t have sexy names, which is why they’re under the much sexier CloudEnabled series of web cameras moniker. And even though the name might not be easy, the devices are designed to be, with 802.11n wireless capabilities, pan tilt and zoom functions, H.264 encoding and 720p resolution. These cameras also feature an easy wizard-based setup and can be accessed from Android and iOS devices.

ZyXEL isn’t looking to deploy these devices in the enterprise, but they are uniquely suited for the needs of a small office/home office or a larger SMB. They could even be deployed in small healthcare practices or part of a larger bundle package for basic physical security around a data center or data closet. The devices are generally available, priced at a cool $99 for the IPC3605N and $185 for the IPC4605N because of all its fancy pan and zoom features.

Any partner focused on building an in-house cloud or virtualization solution may want to see if there’s some cross-selling capabilities between physical security devices and traditional data center appliances. Peace of mind, plus some additional security capabilities, are hardly disagreeable options to offer new and existing customers.
