Cybersecurity firm Tenable Thursday unveiled a new certification program designed to change how the company’s partners and joint customers understand and reduce their cyber risk.

The Cyber Exposure program stresses “technical excellence” and prepares partners not only to deploy and manage the Tenable.io platform, but also implement technology integrations, the company said. Courses are now available on Tenable University.

Tenable’s Chris Peterson

Chris Peterson, Tenable’s vice president of global channels and business development, tells Channel Partners that digital transformation has brought new technologies, from the internet of things (IoT) to cloud, and containers, into corporate environments.

“But these technologies have also introduced new threats and vulnerabilities,” he said. “Organizations everywhere need highly trained and skilled engineers who can design and deliver a solution that enables visibility across all computing platforms and assets. Tenable’s new Cyber Exposure certification prepares partners to address and protect this new attack surface, and allows Tenable to satisfy the rising customer demand for cyber-exposure solutions.”

The program gives partners the ongoing training and guidance they need to provide their customers with strategic counsel, pragmatic solutions and services to manage, measure and reduce their cyber exposure, the company said. The enhanced training will provide joint customers with access to local partners for implementations and integrations.

“Tenable constantly solicits feedback from our partner community on our go-to-market model and enablement programs,” Peterson said. “Feedback on the needs of channel sales and technical roles directly fed the development of our new certification program — specifically in the formulation of our role-based technical enablement. Tenable’s new program delivers enablement purpose-built for specific roles that field engineers play in the customer life cycle, including presales, architecture, implementation and integration. The new program prepares partners to deliver the in-depth technical expertise previously provided only by Tenable engineers.”

Partner engineers who complete the certifications are able to design and demonstrate cyber-exposure solutions, run proof-of-value trials based on customer requirements and implement them. A critical component of the program is the training associated with integrations, “which are a linchpin to a complete cyber-exposure solution,” Peterson said.

“Partner associates learn how to take advantage of the Tenable.io APIs and SDKs, enabling them to provide a complete view of the modern attack surface,” he said.

“We understand that no one company can address the cyber-exposure gap alone, which is why we designed Tenable.io to integrate with other market-leading security technologies,” said John Negron, Tenable’s chief revenue officer. “Our partner community is critical to helping us address the cyber exposure life cycle.”
