Panda Security has released Panda Cloud Office Protection (PCOP) 7.1, a new version of its cloud security service for file servers, laptops and PCs. The international cloud security company said PCOP 7.1 delivers “cloud-based protection rapidly, easily and efficiently.”

According to Panda Security, PCOP 7.1 includes content filtering capabilities, device control whitelists and other new features and is designed to provide enterprises with “greater control” of their cloud security.

“With Panda Cloud Office Protection 7.1, we want to foster independence of the network administrator … [by] including whitelists and offering reports that help give the user greater control,” Panda Security Product Manager Roberto Fernandez said in a prepared statement. “The goal of this new version is to offer PCOP administrators and our partners a tool that allows them to quickly secure their corporate environments.”

Panda Security said the new PCOP release provides enterprises with:

  • Content filtering capabilities that allow emails to be filtered by an attachment’s extension.

  • Device control whitelists that enable enterprises to use specific devices without any restrictions.

  • Endpoint protection tool that enterprises can use to activate or disable endpoint protection without having to use the PCOP web console.

  • The ability to block access to mobile devices.

The cloud security company noted PCOP delivers cross-platform protection for all of an enterprise’s endpoints and enables users to upgrade to new versions via the PCOP web console as well.

Where is Panda Security headed?

Panda Security’s new PCOP release could help the company further increase its profits.

Diego Navarrete, the company’s CEO, recently told InformationWeek that he believed Panda Security’s revenue would increase 7 percent to $100 million this year.

He also pointed out that his company is focused on developing endpoint solutions.

“We are focused on the endpoint … [Traditional] antivirus is dead,” Navarrete said. “In the end, it’s always the same: Protect the endpoints. That is the center of our strategy.”
